IPL 2018 Will be Going Best This Year

IPL matches are held all across the states. It has been a trend in the IPL that the city which bags the cup, hosts the opening ceremony of the next series.

As Mumbai Indians are the defending champions, it is expected that the first match would be played at Wankhede Stadium.

The opening ceremony is a gala event and like always this year too it is believed that Bollywood celebrities would give a scintillating performance.

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2018 auction threw up some interesting trends on Day One. First, Indian batsmen commanded premium bids from all franchises.

Second, some celebrated international names went unsold. Third, wicket-keepers and wrist-spinners were in great demand, with several franchises using Right-to-Match (RTM) cards to retain their former players.

Stokes is expectedly the costliest overseas purchase. However, he fetched a bid lower than his salary past season (Rs 14.5 crore from Rising Pune Supergiants).

Nineteen-year-old wrist-spinner Rashid Khan was the most expensive bowler of the day. His name saw the most intense bidding war among four franchises, but Khan was retained by SRH who exercised their RTM on him.

ndian batsmen KL Rahul and Manish Pandey have been the talk of the town since this morning, after fetching a whopping Rs 11 crore from Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) respectively.

While Rahul’s base price was Rs 2 crore, Pandey’s was Rs 1 crore. Both batsmen have established themselves as formidable propositions in the Indian middle order, and franchises fell over backwards to get their services.

McCullum and Gambhir, both veterans of the game, managed to just about top their base price. Gambhir, who’s the fourth-highest run-getter in IPL and winner of two championship titles, makes a move from KKR to DD at a steal-worthy price. Even some uncapped Indian players have fetched more than him.

Founded by the BCCI, the IPL held its first tournament in 2008. Till 2012, IPL was sponsored by DLF, but in 2013, Pepsi took over. Pepsi paid an amount of about $72 million for a contract of five years.

However, in 2015, Pepsi pulled out as the sponsor of the mega tournament and instead Chinese smartphone maker Vivo bagged the IPL sponsorship for the next two years.

IPL 2018 is going to start and this will be great to watch.

IPL 2018 Top Rivalries of All Time

Chennai Super Kings Vs Royal Challengers Bangalore

Both the team having best players on their side and both teams rivalries exactly the same as Australia and England in the Ashes series.

This could be considered as a South Indian derby virtually, as these are two of the biggest cities in that part of the country. The intensity of rivalry is also due to political differences between the 2 states regarding Kaveri River. The first time these two teams met in IPL Betting Tips was on 28 April 2008 where CSK won by 13 runs.

Led by two of the best Indian players in the form of Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni, they have played each other 21 times in the IPL. The added aggression is the tussle between fire and ice, between fiery RCB skipper Virat Kohli and the original captain cool, MS Dhoni of CSK.STATS:Total matches played – 21Won by RCB – 7Won by CSK – 13 No result –

Mumbai Indians Vs Chennai Super Kings

The best 2 teams in IPL takes up the top spot. Mumbai had a couple of off season earlier on, but ever since Rohit Sharma took over the captaincy in 2013, fortunes changed for the team. While on the other hand, Chennai Super Kings is by far the most consistent team.

Also, CSK and MI have met each other the most number of times (24). These are the only 2 teams in the IPL who have faced each other thrice in Finals of the tournament with Mumbai winning 2 of them.

CSK have the better head to head record against every IPL team ‘except for MI’ , who lead 13 to 11 in 24 meetings between the two teams. Having 2 of the most successful cricketers in CSK’s MS Dhoni and MI’s Sachin Tendulkar have enhanced the rivalry. They will play the inaugural match in this year’s IPL.STATS:Total matches played – 24Won by MI – 13Won by CSK – 11No result – 0.

Mumbai Indians Vs Kolkata Night Riders

It is very difficult to read into a head to head record between two teams, as there are considerable changes in the team combinations from season to season. It started as a battle between 2 of the finest Indian Batsman in the form of Sachin Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly.

Both teams have won the IPL atleast twice.Mumbai Indians have held the bragging rights in the rivalry as they have won 16 matches against Kolkata, which is the most by any team in head to head meetings. Also, KKR lost first 5 matches by huge margins.

They haven’t done the double against Mumbai Indians except in 2014 when they won the IPL. Rohit Sharma loves playing against KKR as he has scored 312 runs in 6 matches against them.STATS:Total matches played – 21Won by MI – 16Won by KKR – 5No result – 0.

Royal Challenger Bangalore vs Kolkata Knight Riders

Virat-GambhirBangalore has definitely won more matches than Kolkata but Kolkata has won an IPL championship unlike Bangalore. On head to head though, KKR has an edge as they have won 12 out of 21 matches played between them.

The 1st match of the inaugural IPL was also played b/w these 2 sides with KKR winning by 140 runs with Brendon Mccullum remaining unbeaten on 158.

Also from Virat’s spat with Gambhir to Gayle’s departure and eventual success at RCB, everything just adds up to this amazing rivalry. RCB would like to make the amends and level score against KKR in this year IPL as KKR would be without Gautam Gambhir who will captain Delhi Daredevils in the 11th edition of the IPL.STATS:Total matches played – 21Won by RCB- 9Won by KKR – 12No result – 0
